The founders of medicine man have been working together in the cannabis industry for over 20 years and have been involved at every stage of production from seed, to large-scale cultivation, to extraction and product development. Having started in the legal cannabis industry in 2015, the medicine man team has continued to explore the 100+ cannabinoids and works with top-tier chemists and formulators to perform proper due diligence on all products and brands that will soon be delivered to our customers. 

We are Native-owned selling exclusively to Natives and derive all of our products from one of the most unique medicinal plants currently known to man.

Native medicine men combined spirituality, patience, the Earth, and gifts provided by Earth to create a healing process. We follow this approach while also adding in modern scientific findings about the cannabis plant. 

It’s already old news that Delta-9 THC binds to the CB1 receptor to provide a euphoric feeling and has been cited as helping provide pain relief, reduce inflammation, and overall calmness.  The next question now has to be – “How can we target particular cannabinoids, terpenes, and other naturally-occurring compounds within the plant to create symptom-specific products that concurrently maximize efficacy with the endocannabinoid system?”.  Our work on this exact question, combined with our exclusivity in working with native reservations, is why our company is called medicine man. 

Terpenes are aromatic compounds that are known in cannabis and other plants for creating the unique scents and favors that are often attributed to them (e.g. cannabis, pine, lavender, fresh orange peel, etc). Whether it be cannabis, hops, or oranges, the fragrance of most plants is due to a combination of terpenes. Terpenes were initially developed by plants for the adaptive purpose of repelling pests and predators and to protect the plants from animal grazing or infectious germs. However, terpenes may also offer some health benefits to the human body. As cannabis regulations continue to become more progressive, the scientific community continues to research and better understand these possible benefits.  The overall medicinal benefits of cannabis have driven this new interest in naturally occurring terpenes; one of the many reasons that medicine man only carries products with naturally derived terpenes and will never carry anything with synthetics. There are over 100 terpenes found in the cannabis plant and every cultivar of the cannabis plant contains a “unique terpene type and composition”. Nowadays, terpenes are used to create scents, flavors, and, occasionally, different feelings or sensations.
